The Drop: A Movie Which Will Keep You on the Edge of Your Seat
I recently watched the movie “The Drop” and I must say, it was one of the most intense and captivating movies I have seen in a while. The plot of the movie was very well-crafted, which made for an interesting and engaging story.
The Storyline
“The Drop” is a crime-drama film that follows Bob Saginowski, played by Tom Hardy, who works as a bartender at a bar owned by his cousin Marv, played by James Gandolfini. Bob leads a relatively simple life until he becomes involved in a robbery gone wrong and finds himself in the middle of a conspiracy involving organized crime and corrupt cops.
Throughout the movie, we see how Bob tries to navigate through this dangerous situation while keeping himself and those he cares about safe. Along the way, we are introduced to some intriguing characters such as Nadia, played by Noomi Rapace, who becomes romantically involved with Bob, and Eric Deeds, played by Matthias Schoenaerts, who is an unpredictable criminal.
The Casts
One of the standout aspects of this movie is the cast, which consists of some incredibly talented actors. Tom Hardy, who is known for his exceptional performances, delivers yet another outstanding portrayal as Bob Saginowski. James Gandolfini, in one of his last film roles before his death, gives a strong performance as Marv.
Noomi Rapace and Matthias Schoenaerts also give impressive performances in their respective roles. The chemistry between all the actors feels natural and authentic, which adds to the overall appeal of the movie.
The Plot Twist
What really stood out to me about “The Drop” was the plot twist towards the end of the movie. It was completely unexpected and left me on the edge of my seat. I won’t give away any spoilers but I will say that it’s one of those moments where everything suddenly makes sense.

The Cinematography

The Score and Popularity
“The Drop” was scored by composer Marco Beltrami, who did an excellent job capturing the film’s atmosphere through his music. The score perfectly sets the tone for each scene and adds to the tension and drama of the story.
Despite receiving positive reviews from critics, “The Drop” didn’t achieve widespread popularity upon its release. However, I believe that it’s a hidden gem that deserves more recognition. It’s a movie that is definitely worth watching if you enjoy crime-drama films.
My Opinion on “The Drop”
As someone who enjoys crime-drama films, I thoroughly enjoyed “The Drop”. It’s a movie that kept me engaged from beginning to end and had me constantly guessing what was going to happen next.
Tom Hardy delivers yet another fantastic performance as Bob Saginowski, making him a character that you can’t help but root for. Although James Gandolfini passed away shortly after filming this movie, he left behind one last memorable performance as Marv.
Overall, “The Drop” is a well-crafted film with an excellent plot twist and great performances from its cast. If you’re a fan of the crime-drama genre, then this is definitely a movie worth watching.
