Laughing Out Loud with “Vampires Suck”
Do you love Twilight? Or do you hate it? Either way, “Vampires Suck” is a hilarious movie that will surely make you laugh. This parody film was released in 2010 and directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, the same duo behind “Scary Movie”. I had a great time watching this movie and here’s why.
The Storyline
The plot of “Vampires Suck” revolves around Becca Crane (Jenn Proske), a parody of Bella Swan, who moves from Phoenix to Sporks to live with her father. There, she meets Edward Sullen (Matt Lanter), a vampire who is trying to resist his urge to drink her blood. The movie pokes fun at all the clichés and tropes of the Twilight series, including the love triangle between Becca, Edward, and Jacob White (Chris Riggi).
The Casts
Jenn Proske did an amazing job portraying Becca Crane. Her deadpan delivery and exaggerated facial expressions perfectly captured Kristen Stewart’s performance as Bella Swan. Matt Lanter, on the other hand, nailed Robert Pattinson’s brooding and moody portrayal of Edward. The rest of the cast, including Chris Riggi, Ken Jeong, and Crista Flanagan, also gave memorable performances.
The Quotes
“Vampires Suck” is full of hilarious one-liners and witty jokes. Here are some of my favorite quotes from the movie:
“What is a Twihard? Is it some kind of drug?” – Becca Crane
“I’m not even sure if I’m doing her right now.” – Edward Sullen
“Listen to me! I am your father!” – Frank Crane (Diedrich Bader)
The Popularity and Evaluation
Despite receiving mostly negative reviews from critics, “Vampires Suck” was a commercial success, grossing over $80 million worldwide against a budget of $20 million. This just goes to show that sometimes audiences prefer silly and fun movies over serious and pretentious ones.
The Cinematography and Special Effects
The cinematography and special effects of “Vampires Suck” are surprisingly good, considering that it’s a parody movie. The scenes where Edward sparkles and the werewolves transform are particularly impressive. The movie also does a great job of imitating the visual style of the Twilight series.
The Criticism
Of course, not everyone enjoyed “Vampires Suck”. Some critics criticized it for being too silly and juvenile, while others felt like it relied too much on making fun of Twilight instead of creating its own jokes. However, as someone who loves comedy movies, I found “Vampires Suck” to be very entertaining.
The Conclusion
In conclusion, “Vampires Suck” is a hilarious parody movie that will make you laugh out loud. It may not be for everyone, but if you’re a fan of comedies or have a sense of humor about the Twilight series, then you should definitely give this movie a chance. I highly recommend it!
