Soul Kitchen: A Movie Review
Have you ever had a restaurant that felt like home? A place where you always knew the food would be delicious, the atmosphere warm, and the people friendly? That’s what Soul Kitchen is – not just a movie, but also a place.
The Storyline:
Soul Kitchen tells the story of Zinos Kazantsakis (Adam Bousdoukos), a young Greek man who runs a struggling restaurant in Hamburg, Germany. Zinos has his hands full with keeping his eccentric employees in check and dealing with his unreliable girlfriend Nadine (Pheline Roggan) who has moved to Shanghai for work.
As if things couldn’t get worse for Zinos, he begins experiencing back pain and must juggle running the restaurant while also trying to find a way to deal with his injury. With business dwindling and bills piling up, he decides to sell the restaurant to an investor who plans on turning it into a high-end eatery.
However, when Zinos’ brother Ilias (Moritz Bleibtreu), a newly released convict and talented chef, comes to Hamburg looking for work, he convinces his brother not to sell the restaurant but to turn it into a place where everyone is welcome. Together they create Soul Kitchen – a place where good food, music and company can be enjoyed by all.
The Cast:
The film features an impressive cast of German and Greek actors. Adam Bousdoukos, who also co-wrote the film, gives a standout performance as Zinos. His endearing portrayal of the struggling restaurant owner is both charming and relatable.

Watching Zinos’ journey from struggling restaurant owner to successful businessman is a reminder that with hard work, perseverance and a little luck, anything is possible.
