My Experience with Angrezi Medium
I recently watched the movie “Angrezi Medium” and it left quite an impression on me. The film tells the story of a father-daughter duo who live in a small town in Rajasthan, India. The father, Champak Bansal (played by Irrfan Khan), runs a modest business that provides a service to send students overseas for higher education. His daughter, Tarika Bansal (played by Radhika Madan), dreams of studying abroad and becoming a successful entrepreneur.
The Plot and Casts
The plot revolves around Champak’s struggles to fulfill his daughter’s dream of studying abroad while facing several hurdles that come his way. There are various other characters who play an important role in the film, such as Tarika’s friend Ananya played by Poorvi Jain or Naina played by Kareena Kapoor Khan who appears later in the movie as she is an officer in the foreign embassy.
Throughout the film, we see how Champak tries every possible solution to get his daughter admitted into a foreign university. We see him struggle financially, emotionally and sometimes even morally. Despite all this, he never gives up on his daughter’s dream because he knows how important it is to her.
Acting and Characters
The acting in this movie is simply phenomenal. Irrfan Khan has always been a versatile actor, and in this movie, he proves it yet again. His portrayal of Champak Bansal is both relatable and inspiring. Radhika Madan also delivers a magnificent performance as Tarika, the ambitious daughter who is determined to achieve her dreams. The chemistry between the father-daughter duo is heartwarming and makes for some genuinely touching moments.
The History and Popularity of Angrezi Medium
Angrezi Medium is a sequel to the 2017 film Hindi Medium which was also critically acclaimed. The film was released on March 13, 2020, but unfortunately didn’t do well at the box office due to the COVID-19 pandemic that shut down theaters worldwide just days after its release. Despite this setback, Angrezi Medium has garnered a lot of attention from audiences around the world thanks to its digital release.
Criticism and Evaluation
While Angrezi Medium received critical acclaim from most reviewers, some criticized it for being too sentimental at times. However, I believe that this sentimentality only adds to the believability of the story and makes us feel more connected with the characters.
Cinematography
The cinematography in Angrezi Medium is also impressive. The film captures the essence of Rajasthan and presents it in an aesthetically pleasing way. The shots of the narrow streets, bustling markets, and vibrant colors are all beautifully captured.
Opinion on Angrezi Medium
As someone who has a strong connection with their father, this movie resonated deeply with me. Watching Champak’s unwavering love for his daughter was both inspiring and emotional. It made me reflect on the sacrifices my own parents have made for me. I was also impressed by how the movie tackled various social issues such as gender inequality and corruption as well. Overall, Angrezi Medium is a must-watch movie that leaves you feeling emotional yet hopeful at the same time.
Gossip and Trivia
Despite its somber storyline, there were some lighthearted moments in the film that provided some much-needed comic relief. One of my favorite scenes was when Champak disguises himself as a wealthy businessman to impress Tarika’s interviewer (played by Pankaj Tripathi) only to have his plan backfire hilariously.
Soundtracks
The soundtracks in Angrezi Medium are also worth mentioning. The music is composed by Sachin-Jigar and Guru Randhawa with lyrics by Priya Saraiya, Jigar Saraiya, Tanishk Bagchi, Vayu and Guru Randhawa. The songs “Ek Zindagi”, “Laadki” and “Kudi Nu Nachne De” are particularly good and add to the film’s emotional resonance.
Analysis and Special Effects
Angrezi Medium does not involve any major special effects or grand visual effects but the simplicity of the story and its execution makes a deeper impact. The analysis of how an ordinary father is willing to go beyond his financial standing and risk it all for something that is so dear to his daughter’s dreams is captured beautifully by the director Homi Adajania.
Crews and Criticism
The Director Homi Adajania, also known for his previous films Being Cyrus (2006) and Cocktail (2012), created a masterpiece with Angrezi Medium. However, some audiences criticized it for not having enough twists or a dramatic climax. But personally, I think that’s what makes this movie so unique. It doesn’t rely on any sort of shock value or gimmicks to move the audience – it’s simply a heartwarming story about love and sacrifice.
Production and Editing
The producers Dinesh Vijan, Jio Studios had taken a big risk by releasing this movie in March 2020 just before the global lockdowns began but despite facing difficulties during production due to Irrfan Khan’s health concerns, they were able to create an emotionally charged movie with great production values from costumes, sets to narrative structure. The editing provided by A Sreekar Prasad was sharp which ensured that none of the scenes dragged on for too long making it difficult for the viewers.
The Conclusion
In conclusion, Angrezi Medium is more than just a movie – it’s a celebration of life and love. It showcases how far a parent is willing to go for their child’s dream. It’s incredibly touching yet uplifting at the same time. With its exceptional cast, heartwarming story, and beautiful cinematography, Angrezi Medium is definitely worth a watch.
